Degica Games has announced they’re localizing Koihime Enbu.
The female-dominated fighting game will be coming to PC via Steam sometime next month. The game was originally released in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
Developed by Unknown Games, the game features a gender-bent cast of classical warriors seen in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms epic. Fans can expect thirteen playable fighters, each featuring unique movesets and mechanics.
Here’s a synopsis for the game, via Degica:
Based on the Koihime Musou visual novel, Koihime Enbu features a reimagining of the Romance of Three Kingdoms where the majority of characters are girls. Originally an arcade fighting game, Koihime Enbu draws upon this pedigree to offer players accessible and exciting mechanics that will draw in beginner and veteran players alike.
Koihime Enbu is footsies-based 2D fighting game. Anyone can enjoy it from a beginner to a skilled fighting game veteran.
Fighting game veterans will relish the tight controls and fast combat, providing the possibility of huge combos and devastating counters. Explore the Fatal Counter system that creates additional combo opportunities. With almost every attack being punishable, Koihime Enbu strives to provide a cleaner and more precise fighting experience.
Features:
- Play as 13 different characters and 7 “assist” characters to create a huge variety of strategies!
- Old school footsies-based 2D fighting game!
- Explore the Fatal Counter system which gives moves different properties that make comboing easier, and longer!
- Utilise the Tactics Meter with special moves, ex special moves, super moves, and ultimate moves!
- Save your best bouts for later, or learn from your previous battles with Replay Mode!
- Ascend the online rankings by battling in ranked matchmaking, keep it closer to home and play with your friends in local versus mode!

April 22, 2016 at 9:59 pmWow, Degica are really on a roll with these PC ports. Also considering their recent move to keep the cards from Eternal Destiny uncensored from fan feedback, we probably don’t have to worry about any changes during the port job.

April 22, 2016 at 10:20 pmkeeping an eye on these new localizers. so far they’ve been on xseed level of costumer satisfaction. still wished they fixed code of princess though, don’t know if they can somehow redo the models or high res them and do away with the dual screen completely and just show what’s on the bottom screen to the top screen but oh well.

April 22, 2016 at 11:11 pmThat would be nice, but I imagine those are far more expensive fixes than Code of Princess could warrant, financially.

April 22, 2016 at 11:36 pmIt was a really popular classic novel. So much so it branched off and became a cultural phenomena.
…A seemingly immortal cultural phenomena.

April 23, 2016 at 12:10 amAh good.. an uncensored all girl fighting game…we used to have one of those…ScudGirls…SkillGirls…gah..the name eludes me somehow.
Oh well, i am excited for this one. Degica is quickly getting on my good side since the move on Infinita, adding a “censor switch” players can toggle in the game game (putting it simply).

April 23, 2016 at 12:27 amhuh I may have to buy this one. Still kind of sad that steam is the go to pc seller. If it ever shuts down, thats a lot of games that will disappear.

April 23, 2016 at 2:04 amthe team behind skullgirls self censored it and are going to censor their newest game. they even begged feminists to support their new game.

Every EULA is the same and designed to protect companies.
It doesnt stop people from getting them to court, and with the amount of people who use Steam they would lose the case, no doubt.

April 23, 2016 at 6:23 pmIt’s to be expected. If you’ve ever visited a convention where Skull Girls has a floor, you’ll notice that 70% of the people there are fans of the characters, and not the game. To them, the fighting game isn’t as important as the characters themselves.

April 24, 2016 at 3:08 amWhat I meant is that there is absolutely nothing that oblige/dictate Steam to still give you access of the contents you purchased whenever the service will definitively go down.
And I certainly dont believe most publishers would agree with freely giving out their games without protection.

April 24, 2016 at 8:19 amI wonder about the netcode for this game.

April 24, 2016 at 9:14 amEven though they have a seemingly good track record, wait and see the final result first.
Because after all, we were promised that Blade & Soul wouldn’t be censored for the West. And look what happened.
GamesGoodMeGood
April 24, 2016 at 9:23 amMike ZaiCuck. Guess he desperately needs the money.
Regardless, it’s a disgrace he actually caved in and pandered to the SJW/feminist brigade… especially for a game like Skullgirls.
Skullgirls is Mike Z’s vision and dream come true, and it’s the kind of game where the 2D graphics style absolutely epitomizes artistic expression and creativity.
Not any more though. Because by censoring the panty-shots to pander to Anita’s Puritan Brigade, it means that yet another developer’s freedom of expression is stifled. Which is a huge shame because I love the visuals of this game.
Then of course, the usual dickhead censorship apologists pop up out of the woodwork and spout bullshit like:
“it’s not censorship, they just changed it to make look better”
“the changed frames/sprites look better anyway”
“Lab Zero weren’t happy with it so they changed it themselves, SJWs did not censor the game”
“LabZero had this on the task pile months ago, they weren’t happy with the frames to begin with so they were going to change it anyway, it’s nothing to do with SJWs”
“SJWs/feminists did not censor the game because they aren’t the developers”
All pretty much bullshit excuses that only make it worse, as it simply only gives feminists more power.
GamesGoodMeGood
April 24, 2016 at 9:35 amThat’s why SJWs/feminists should not be allowed to suggest or dictate female character designs.
All they seem to care about is removing any trace of sex appeal from them in order to ruin it for the people who enjoy it.
If they had their way, they would make all female characters unattractive Mary Sues.
Funny though how they all claim that covering up some panty-shots is “trivial”. It obviously wasn’t so “trivial” to them in order to kick and scream to have them covered up…

April 24, 2016 at 2:56 pmI know this is a day to late…. BUT!
It seems like their is still an active attempt to translate the second visual novel of the series: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/3435-shin-koihime-musou-translation-project/
Here’s hoping they don’t pull what the Rance Quest translators pulled.
Master Bating
April 24, 2016 at 3:18 pmTrue, but it would cause an uproar if they did not give people access to the files they paid for.
Gamespy took away the online portion of the game, not the games themselves.
And even that caused an uproar, PR problems and support for said games to come out either by the devs/publishers holding the IP or the community itself.
EA and Nintendo took a shitton of flak by just shutting it down.
If they literally stop providing the files, theres going to be a shitstorm no matter how small the community is by then, which will not not small due to Steam games being only avaiable on Steam.
CRES
April 24, 2016 at 4:05 pmGiven how many IP follow this premise, it’s probably just alternate dimension “These historically male characters are female, just roll with it” take.

April 25, 2016 at 10:03 amThe result is pretty good tbh for having bought and played it. Pure Japanese goodness without SJW-tier censorship ruining the artworks.
