Sample an Hour of Gameplay from Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear

Beamdog, creators of the “Enhanced Edition” re-releases of the two Baldur’s Gate games, has just recorded an hours worth of new Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear gameplay via streaming site Twitch. This marks the first occasion where we’ve seen live, lengthy gameplay footage of the game, and what’s shown looks, at least in my opinion, very impressive.

The video is narrated by Beamdog lead designer Phillip Daigle and writer Amber Scott, both of whom sprinkle the gameplay with some behind-the-scenes info as well as answer questions posed by fans. Without spoiling too much, Siege of Dragonspear seems to be based heavily on Baldur’s Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal, with Daigle and Scott showing off features that borrow more from the later game than the more straightforward original.

Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear is due sometime early this year, though no exact date has been revealed so far.
