Stop Hitler From Rising To Power in Sebastian Frank: The Beer Hall Putsch

Much like how Ubisoft made a game surrounding the events of World War I with Valiant Hearts, indie developer Cláudio Fernandes is currently working on another game set in that turbulent era, this one called Sebastian Frank: The Beer Hal Putsch. Though they touch upon similar subjects, the interesting wrinkle in Sebastian Frank is that you are, in fact, actively trying to stop the rise of Adolf Hitler in post-war Germany.

Referencing the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, in which Hitler’s Nazi party failed in an attempt at taking over the government, Sebastian Frank is, much more than any other game, intent on using real world history to tell its story. At least, up until the point where you stop the Nazi party from rising and change history, that is.

Players take on the role of Sebastian Frank who, while studying at Vienna’s Academy of Fine arts in 1908, meets Hitler and apparently befriends him. Later, Frank and Hitler both serve together during WWI, setting into motion events that lead the two men in different directions. Hitler, as we know, blamed the country’s leadership (among other things) for Germany’s failure to win the war and fed upon the fears and anger of the people to gain power. Sebastian, on the other hand, decides to form a counter movement that aims to prevent his former classmate and fellow veteran from achieving his goals.

The game is currently asking for 30,000 Euros on indiegogo, but has only raised 2,150 as of this writing. History fans, or simply adventure gamers who want something a bit out of the norm might also want to check out the official demo, which is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
