Versus Evil and developer Stoic Studio have announced a miniature boardgame version for The Banner Saga.
Dubbed simply The Banner Saga: Warbands, the new boardgame will actually be crowdfunded (via Kickstarter) just like the original video game was. The game is being produced by the American company MegaCon, and has been in the designing phase for about a year now – all the boards, cards, miniatures have been fully prototyped.
The goal of the Kickstarter is to raise enough money for a full production – although a funding goal was not mentioned in the press release.
MegaCon is working directly with Stoic Studio to recapture the spirit of the video game, to which they position the real-life boardgame as “an innovative, cooperative miniature-based board game that deals with the difficulties and consequences of decision making”.
To celebrate the news, publisher Versus Evil is holding a sale for The Banner Saga right now on Steam, cutting the price down by 75%.
The Banner Saga: Warbands is launching for Kickstarter next week, on November 12th.
