According to the Polish edition of Eurogamer as well as Puls Innowacji (both links in Polish), NCBR (Narodowe Centrum BadaÅ„ i Rozwoju – National Centre for Research and Development, a Polish government agency focused on science, technology and innovation) has accepted a project proposal created by a non-profit organization Polskie Gry (Polish Games) founded by some of the most recognizable of the country’s game development companies which include CD Projek Red (The Witcher series) and People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) as well as the companies that develop games for smaller, more specific audiences like Artifex Mundi, an established producer of mobile adventure games.

The project, if finalized, will lead to to the developers receiving state funding, although the exact numbers are still being negotiated. According to NCBR, the money will not go to the ganes’ development budgets – instead, the companies will need to use it for the purposes of research and innovation.

Remigiusz Kościelny, CEO of Vivid Games (a member company of Polskie Gry), gives big data analysis, player behavior prediction and virtual reality research as examples of research intiatives which could benefit from the funding.

About

I play games (I have a preference for old, weird and difficult ones but that's not the rule) and write articles about them that are sometimes a bit too long. Sometimes I also do things other than gaming, I swear.
