Amplitude Remake is Delayed into January 2016

Harmonix has confirmed their Amplitude remake is going to be delayed yet again.

The Kickstarter-funded Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 game was set for a tentative March 2015 release, only to be pushed into this summer. Now, we’re speedily moving through the summer and now we can expect the game some time in January of next year.


 

Backers of the game on Kickstarter will get the game a bit earlier, in December of this year (only if you chose the “early access” reward). The Playstation 4 version is launching first, with the Playstation 3 version coming some time shortly afterwards.

“At a certain point, we made a major call: We’ve decided to double down, increase the project budget, and make the new Amplitude bigger and better than the scope of game we originally pitched to you all last year,” Harmonix boss Alex Rigopulos said in a Kickstarter update. The game was originally planned to have 16 songs, while it will now have a total of 30 songs. Backers of the game on Kickstarter will also be able to vote on a 31st song.

Harmonix is also expanding the single path / single environment gameplay of the game, with two more playable environments, as well as unique path topology per song, alongside more gameplay modes. There’s going to be a solo campaign, two-to-four “free for fall,” solo free play, and a new team play mode (one-versus-three or two-versus-two).

Finally, Harmonix’s Ryan Lessler teased “a new, still-to-be-announced way to play the game that will change the way you think about Amplitude’s six-lane track.”
