Sony is Launching a 1TB PS4 Next Month

Following Microsoft’s announcement for a 1TB Xbox One SKU, Sony is following suit in revealing their own upgraded machine.

Featured above, you can view a trailer for their new 1TB Playstation 4, however, the new SKU also comes alongside an updated 500GB model that has some new changes physically as well as mechanically. The new 500GB console is slightly lighter, and also more energy efficient. The glossy top has also been replaced for a fingerprint-friendly matte finish.

Sony also updated their PlayStation app to allow you to enter PSN gift cards and promotional codes, and the ability to display comments on your phone or tablet, while you’re streaming from your Playstation 4.

While the new PS4 SKU is only confirmed for Europe (July 15th) and the 500GB Japanese model (this month), the 1TB SKU has been filed under the FCC, so we’ll probably hear of an American release soon.

(Editor’s note: The article originally mentioned only the 1TB SKU and not the new 500GB model announced for Japan.
