We’ve learned that a Turok: Dinosaur Hunter remake is possibly in the works.
The news comes from an interview between Samuel Villarreal, a level designer on FEAR: Perseus Mandate, Aliens: Colonial Marines, etc., and TechRaptor, where the developer confirmed he acquired the rights to the 1997 game.
Villarreal claimed that he was rebuilding the 1996 shooter Powerslave, but had put aside development on their Turok remake for the shooter instead. “Since now Night Dive Studios has picked up the rights to re-release it, Turok EX will resume development later this year,” he said. Villarreal also pointed out that he worked alongside Night Dive Studios in porting the 1996 FPS Strife, to Steam last year.
Night Dive is the studio who specializes in bringing old classics onto modern platforms, overseeing titles like System Shock 2 and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream; alongside a near-finalized deal for No One Lives Forever, although that deal was sadly not concluded.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
