We’ve learned (via Deadline) that Sony Pictures is eyeing up Furious 7 director James Wan for their upcoming Robotech live-action adaptation.

Coming off the insane worldwide success of Furious 7, $1.3 billion worldwide thus far, Wan is clearly in a good place right now and is probably swimming in offers from various studios.

The source claims that Wan is completely on-board to have another take on an established franchise, much like he did with Warner Bros/New Line’s The Conjuring, which also has a second film that is set to release some time next year.

Alongside the news of Wan potentially directing the film, we’ve learned that Gianni Nunnari (Hollywood Gang) and Mark Canton (Atmosphere) are producing a script from Michael Gordon, who all previously worked on the Spartan-fueled movie, 300.
