New Witcher 3 Video Schools You About Communism In Poland, C64 Piracy

By now you’ve probably been beaten to death with Witcher 3 gameplay videos and screenshots of monsters trying to devour Geralt’s greasy gray-haired head. Changing things up a bit is this latest video series hosted on Gamespot that goes a bit deeper and explores CD Projekt’s history as well as the state of gaming in Eastern Europe back in the 80s.

This is the first part of a three part series, and as such, the video mostly deals with the effect Communism had on the gaming scene, the proliferation of pirated software, and how CD Projekt rose from the chaos of that turbulent era in Poland.

If you’re more interested in the company’s history and how they became the juggernaut they are today, you’ll enjoy the video. It’s especially interesting how the idea of swapping discs and being so cavalier about piracy made CD Projekt the consumer-friendly business they are today.

The dig they make on Bethesda’s horse armor DLC is a nice touch, too.
