Report: DeNA has Fired a “Large Group of Employees” at Its Vancouver Studio

luigi 04-10-15-2

We’ve learned (thanks, GamesBeat) that DeNA has reportedly fired a “large group of employees” at their Vancouver development studio.

The news comes via a company spokesperson that spoke to GamesBeat. The layoffs are seemingly only happening at that particular studio, however this raises an eyebrow because of DeNA’s recently announced financial and development collaboration with Nintendo, and their subsequent rising of stock value.

The Japanese mobile publisher is working behind the scenes with Nintendo to bring a new console of some kind, as well as new mobile games with Nintendo’s own internal development teams. Despite this worrying turn of events, DeNA touted the downloads milestone of their recently launched Final Fantasy: Record Keeper, which has already broke the one million download mark, since its launch just last month.

We’ll keep you guys posted.
