Bandai Namco has released new info and screenshots for its upcoming dungeon crawler, Ray Gigant. The roleplaying game consists of three chapters, each of which focus on a separate character. This time, Bandai Namco are revealing more about Kyle Griffin’s section of the game. (You can learn more about the other protagonists, Ichiya Amakaze and Nil Phineas, here.)

There’s now a short teaser trailer out for the game, too, which you can watch here.

Ray Gigant will be available for the Playstation Vita in Japan on July 30. No Western localization has been announced yet.

Characters

Kyle Griffin (voiced by Wataru Hatano) is a 17-year-old Englishman who lives at Holy Rock, a European defense base. This facility was created as a base for anti-Gigant operations and a place to do secret research. It’s mostly run by an AI, Annie Third. As a result of his resonance with the power of Yorigami, Griffin works for Holy Rock to fight against the gigants.

Griffin is ambitious and intelligent, but has a twisted personality that makes him demanding. He was born to a distinguished family.

Conner McBride (voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki), a 30-year-old Englishman, is Kyle’s friend. Previously a member of the special forces, Conner is now a veteran. Liona believes he lacks motivation and is irresponsible. Liona Kogarasu (voiced by Yu Kobayashi) is a 16-year-old friend of Kyle’s who battles gigants. She is a serious person, but on her days off likes to play games and collect retro titles. Her parents are journalists.

Battle System

Parties consist of three characters. In Griffin’s game, they consist of Kyle, McBride, and Kogarasu. Enemies appear together in rows as part of their own party.

Each party has pooled AP (Action Points), which combatants expend during their turn in order to take actions. That means if the AP is low, everyone is restricted. The more powerful characters’ attacks, the more AP will be recovered. AP are refreshed during the opponents’ turn. AP also carries over after battle, which means players have to be careful with their AP expenditure.

Outside of battles, AP can be increased or decreased through the actions the player takes during roleplaying sections. In the overworld, AP can also decrease if the player moves over a trap while in a dungeon.

The battle system makes use of three commands, with the Circle, Triangle, and Square buttons. Circle sets attack actions, Triangle sets defense actions, and Square sets either.
