As with the latest Toukiden: Kiwami screenshots, a new video takes time out from the demon slaying to emphasize the other aspects of the game. We’re taken on a stroll through Utakata, the village and hub of the game, and are introduced to a tenko, Toukiden’s mascot character.

In Japanese folklore, a kitsune (fox) evolves into a tenko (nine-tailed fox spirit) when it becomes a millennium old. The tenko are benign guardian entities that serve the rice gods.

The tenko in the game are a little different than their mythological counterparts, however. They have two tails instead of nine, and are able to transform themselves and manipulate their own auras. Instead of serving the gods, they may decide to become a human’s helper or pet.

Players will be able to adopt a tenko in the game, and can send it treasure hunting while they go monster hunting. When the player returns from monster hunting, so does the tenko, with a random haul of items.

Toukiden: Kiwami is coming to the PS4 and Vita. The game arrives in Europe on March 27, and in North America on March 31.
