J-Stars Victory VS+ is Getting Character Balancing from Japanese Fan Response

Bandai Namco director Koji Nakajima has confirmed (via IGN) that J-Stars Victory Vs.+ is getting character balancing prior to its western release.

Many importers of the game had gripes with certain characters being totally overpowered. However, the character balancing comes from the feedback from the Japanese fans who purchased the original game.

He also said that licensing for various characters was definitely a part of the problem with bringing the game west, but the most difficult aspect was giving fighting moves to characters that don’t typically fight in their source material:

“There are some characters who don’t fight in their [original] manga so it was very difficult to image how Goku and those [other] characters will be fighting in the same stage. In terms of creating the motions and actions, all of those were approved by each licensee after having a lot of discussions and negotiations. Implementing those actions was the most difficult part and I spent a lot of time discussing it with the dev team.”

Finally, Nakajima also confirmed that with himself being a big fan of Shonen Jump, he wished that he could have included all of the characters from the publication. Coming from this, he hopes that if he is able to make another game like J-Stars, that he can include all of the Shonen Jump characters.
