Etrian Odyssey Untold II: Knights of Fafnir, the 3DS remake of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard, was released on November 27, and has sold 59 000 copies in its first week in Japan.

That’s decent. In comparison, Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl, sold 90 000 in its first week, and the original Etrian Odyssey sold 30 000.

Upon release, the game received illustrations (featured above; click to enlarge) from the first three Etrian Odyssey games as free DLC. Players can use these when creating their own characters in Classic Mode.

In a first for the Etrian Odyssey series, Knights of Fafnir will also be receiving paid DLC.

The first of that paid DLC is the Highlander class. It was available for Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl, and it’s making a return for the sequel, too. The DLC will be free for the first two weeks, after which it will cost 100 yen. The portraits for the class are featured above. (Click to enlarge.)

Another DLC will provide a repeatable quest that players can grind to earn special ingredients, which can then be used to make food. It costs 250 yen.

And last but not least, Etrian Odyssey Untold II is also receiving a hot springs DLC. This seems like the most interesting and meaty of the DLCs. For 350 yen, players have the opportunity to enjoy a hot onsen and battle a giant toad. The DLC also includes illustrations for Arianna and Chloe, which can be used in Classic Mode, just like the free DLC. Absolutely minuscule screenshots have been released, and are featured above. (Clicking the thumbnails will widen but, sadly, not enlarge the images.)

All of the DLC is now available for those who are interested and able.
