SteamWorld Heist is Coming with Music from Steam Powered Giraffe

Image & Form have confirmed that SteamWorld Heist, their upcoming spiritual successor of sorts to their quite awesome SteamWorld Dig: A Fistful of Dirt, is getting a pretty wicked soundtrack.

Featured above, you can view a teaser trailer/music video featuring the San Diego-based group known as Steam Powered Giraffe, who are known for basically embellishing a steampunk look and sound, to the T. The group will not only be composing the soundtrack for the game, but they’ll also be featured in game as a literal group of antique singing automatons, which you can make play via the jukebox in Captain Piper’s ship.

Image & Form CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson talked up how awesome the collaboration is, and how the developer came to meet the trio:

“A SteamWorld game about steam-powered robots featuring real-world steam-powered robots. It’s perfect! I met with SPG at E3 in June to seal the deal, and since I love their music I have to admit I was a bit starstruck. But it turned out they loved our games as well. We’re very much alike, childish and pretty resourceful. They wear a bit more makeup at times, is all.”

Thankfully, Steam Powered Giraffe were equally as excited to work alongside Image & Form on the game. David Michael Bennett (The Spine) of Steam Powered Giraffe sounded off:

“Luckily, make-up aside, our mechanical cog-filled hearts were in synch. When asked if we would like to collaborate with Image and Form on their next SteamWorld game we immediately said yes! We loved SteamWorld Dig, and a steam-powered robot band making music for a steam-powered robot game? Count us in!”

SteamWorld Heist is coming out in the spring of next year, to multiple (yet unconfirmed) platforms.
