Goat Simulator MMO Expansion is Live, Includes a Secret Cow Level

Goat Simulator got a big MMO-styled expansion this past week in the form of Goat MMO Simulator.

The free patch was added as a tongue-in-cheek jab at countless fans who kept pleading with the developer to “just add multiplayer”, according to game designer Armin Ibrisagic, who spoke with The Verge:

“We’ve had countless requests to just ‘patch in multiplayer, come on man, it can’t be that hard, don’t be lazy!’ by players that don’t understand that it would take years and we would have to rebuild the entire game from scratch. With the trailer, we wanted to make fun of the simplified view that people have of game development.”

The MMO expansion is setting the stage for a war between the goats and the sheep, alongside tons of quests for you to complete. There are five different kinds of classes available from the get-go, including the Warrior, Rouge, Magician, Hunter and … the Microwave? There’s a level cap of 101, so hopefully you’ll be satisfied when you reach end game content.

There’s even a nod towards the amazing secret cow level from Diablo 2:

To get to the Secret Cow Level, you have to fling yourself via catapult to a village called “Twistram,” which is somewhat of an amalgamation of all the forms of Tristram throughout the Diablo series. There’s even a similarly composed Twistram theme that will play the entire time you’re in the area.

Once you enter the Twistram Cathedral, you can find a hidden passageway that leads to you a subterranean cave. Providing you explore it well enough, you’ll find a curious glyph at the end which teleports you to … the “Not So Secret Cow Farm.” The battling continues in Twistram, as the anthropomorphic cows will give you yet another horde of monsters to fight.
