Yuna Yuki is a Hero: Memory of the Forest Vita Game Gets More Details

With the anime currently airing in Japan and on Crunchyroll here, it’s no surprise that a video game for Yuuki Yuuna was announced a few weeks ago. Today, however, more information has popped up on FuRyu’s blog about the game.

Yuki Yuna Wa Yusha De Aru: Jukai no Kioku (Yuna Yuki is a Hero: Memories of the Forest) will follow a similar starting path to the anime. YÅ«ki YÅ«na and her friends in the Sanshu Middle School Hero Club are dedicated to helping people everywhere they can, ranging from community service activities to saving cats stuck in trees. Of course, what the club is actually for is defending their city against a strange invading enemy known only as the “Vertex”.

When the Vertex attacks, the girls are transported to a strange forest where they must fight it off in order to prevent it from destroying the Sacred Tree, which destruction would also destroy the world. Not particularly well versed in the art of fighting (except for one Miyoshi Karen), they instead use a phone app and the powers of the Sacred Tree to transform into Magical Girls and fight the Vertex on equal footing.

However, during the game’s storyline, the forest where the fight takes place becomes strangely warped and twisted, so much so that the space originally reserved for the girls and the Vertex lets some unknown entity slip in.

The gameplay itself is taking the standard approach to anime games like this. The gameplay is split into two parts, one in which you interact with the other characters and a second in which you fight the Vertex (and whatever the new enemy may be).

The battle mode allows you full control over your favorite of the fighters in a 3D location.

The event mode actually has several original storylines not seen in the anime, which are overseen by the series creator and studio. There will be many, many visuals and CGs limited only to the game, and the entire anime cast will be reprising their roles in it.

The last big news is the release date—February 25th in Japan—and the limited edition details are available:

  • Drama CD
  • Special Booklet
  • Bath Poster
  • Smartphone Deco Seal
  • Changeable Package Jacket
  • Special Packaging

And pre-ordering will net you an original mini-clear file.

So who else is watching the anime and debating importing this? I know I am …
