So what is Moe Day (moe no hi)? In Japanese, the day (October 10th, or 10/10) is written as 十月十日, and when written traditionally with the date from right to left (and vertically), you get this:

If you look at it and have a background in Japanese, you’ll probably recognize that it looks very similar to the kanji for moe:
