Pier Solar HD is Delayed Again Due to Certification Issues

Darn those pesky certifications for software, keeping faulty and non-responsive products out of the hands of end users! Sorry, I had a bit of an outburst when I saw that Pier Solar HD is being delayed yet again, missing its previous delay into this month.

The game is currently in development for Android, Linux, Mac, Ouya, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Windows PC and even the Sega Dreamcast. The blog post elaborated on the main cause of the delay, and it was due to certifications being turned back on Microsoft’s end:

“Microsoft already evaluated Pier Solar as well but we failed some internal requirements on the certification and we’re correcting them for the next submission. This also impacts Wii U and PlayStation(s) submissions since we want to send it as clean as possible so that we don’t get another failed certification. Luckily, the process doesn’t take as long as we thought, so the perspectives to getting a release date gets better. As soon as we’re certified on all platforms we’ll announce the date and put it on the street.”

So the certification issues are not solely the result of Microsoft’s rejection, but rather that developer and publisher WaterMelon Corp. would rather touch the game’s code up a bit before launching it on all the aforementioned platforms. Pier Solar HD was successfully funded on Kickstarter with a total of roughly $139,000 dollars back in December of 2012.

We’ll keep you guys posted.
