Create Games in the Genre that You Hate or are Ignorant of in F*CK THIS JAM

office space 05-30-14-1

F*CK THIS JAM is a game jam centered around creating games outside of your comfort zone, a genre you hate, and preferably in the genres within gaming that you know little about. This is the first time the jam has taken place since 2012.

The jam will run from now until June 6th, and it is attempting to entice developers to think outside the box, or in this case their own creativity box, and develop games in genres they normally avoid. It poses the challenge: spend one week making a game in a genre you dislike, a genre you don’t care about and a genre you don’t know about.

Some examples were given like if you’re particular to arcade shooters, why not make a thoughtful puzzler? How about making a third person shooter, if you’re normally into narrative adventure games? The less you know about a genre, the better, as sometimes utter ignorance to the typical conventions of a genre can result in amazing ideas.

You can visit the website for F*CK THIS JAM here, and entries will be cut off by the end of the day on June 6th.
