Create Procedural Music in Alpha Muse

If you know me well, you know that I absolutely love music games, most especially ones with interactive forms of music. Current Circus are a small team working on a brilliant looking new game titled Alpha Muse, and the game is definitely looks like it could bring the muse out of anyone who plays it.

In Alpha Muse, you have to progress through abstract, dreamlike worlds where you compose music on the fly, almost procedurally. Featured above, you’ll get a look at the game’s latest build, which was shown off at PAX East this weekend. The game is currently in open development for PC, but it’s already looking pretty wonderful.

Throughout the game you control a nebulous creature that floats to and fro, picking up other strange, shapeless beings, all of which actually represent various musical elements that can be added to the song you’re currently playing. You can change up and modify your current song by flying straight through “abstract audio-reactive spaces,” which can do all sorts of things to your current track.

After all is said and done, you can even share your track with others in the game’s community. Alpha Muse is currently available for $10, via the game’s official website.
