Race the Sun Developers Announce Hexarden, a Game About Gardening

Flippfly is known for their breakout hit in Race the Sun, a minimalist, adrenaline filled racing game where you have to literally race the sun as it is setting in the far distance. They’ve just revealed their new game, and it seems to follow in the stylish footsteps of their previous outing.

Titled simply Hexarden, the game is a clear portmanteau of hexagon and garden, and the core gameplay seems to be just that. The goal of the game is to connect water and seedlings in order for the garden itself to grow and prosper.

Flippfly co-founder Aaron San Filippo confirmed that the game originated as a quick mock up in the Ludum Dare 24 game jam, way back in August of 2012. According to the presser that was sent out, the full version “expands on the basic mechanics of that game with some new twists and a new graphical style.”

Development platforms for Hexarden are not confirmed yet, but we can assume that it will be at least coming to PC, Mac, and Linux. Race the Sun was launched on PC via Steam, and is currently set for a release sometime this summer for PS3, PS Vita, and PS4.
