It’s been a little bit since we’ve heard of the current status of both Shantae games by Wayforward Technologies. Now, they have confirmed that their highly anticipated third entry in the Shantae series, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, is going to take “a couple more months,” news that they mentioned via their official Twitter account:

“Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be in development for a couple more months while we add a few finishing touches. Almost there!”

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is a metroidvania styled game that has a large map filled with loads of hidden routes and secrets for you to uncover. Naturally, as you gain more powerups, you’ll be able to access more areas in the game’s world.

While Pirate’s Curse is in development exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS, Shantae: Half Genie Hero is in development for a boatload of platforms.
