Akiba’s Trip 2 is Coming to America in the Form of Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed

Remember that subtle tease that XSEED made yesterday that could’ve been for Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus or Akiba’s Trip 2? Well, it’s official – XSEED Games is localizing Akiba’s Trip 2. The Western version of the name will be Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed, a smart choice in making the game’s name more approachable for Western audiences, as the original game was never localized.

The game is set for release this summer in North America across both Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita, and will put you in the shoes of a boy who must battle vampire like enemies in the famous Akihabara district of Tokyo. You’ll have to destroy the “Synthisters,” the aforementioned vampire like creatures who prey on the otaku who regularly frequent the Akihabara district. Your only method of destroying them – stripping them of their clothes in direct sunlight, killing them and leaving only dust.

You’ll be able to use your cell phone in game to track down Synthisters, via a tracking application. In battle, you’ll be able to use lots of different objects including motherboards, baseball bats, comic books, and so on. After being defeated, you can even reclaim clothing from defeated Synthisters to use for yourself. As you play through the story as Nanashi, you get turned into a Synthister, only to be saved by a Synthister hunter named Shizuku, who has sworn to save Akihabara from the plague of the creatures.

Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed will be available in both retail and digital formats, both of which will have Japanese audio – so rejoice importers! XSEED is looking into doing both English and Japanese audio, but they are definitely not planning on removing anything in the Western release that was present in the Japanese version.
