TRIHAYWBFRFYH is The Apocalypse You’ve Always Wanted

TRIHAYWBFRFYH ss 1

TRIHAYWBFRFYH is short for The Rapture Is Here And You Will Be Forcibly Removed From Your Home, and boy is the game quite an experience at that. Developed in Unity by Connor Sherlock, you’re placed in a seemingly empty world that is very literally being slowly consumed by the Rapture. This isn’t your grandmother’s rapture, this is a horrifying, godless, and downright mesmerizing experience.

You’re given precisely twenty minutes to explore the ethereal landscapes and wilderness, eventually an emptiness beings to overcome you and the only solace you’ll find are in the tall multicolored beams of light and particles. As you collect these beams of light, you’re rewarded with excerpts (that are read aloud) from various works of fiction from H.P. Lovecraft.

The more of the excerpts you find, the more of the world seemingly opens up, or possibly even changes. Giant columns appear, bright beams of light being piercing the ground, lightning strikes become more frequent, all the while I began to actually get pretty scared and nervous. The entire time you’re trying to escape the Rapture, if you stop for a second to look at the giant encroaching void, you’re rewarded with a lovely, overwhelming, and somewhat soul crushing synth that really does sound like the end of the world.

I have to say that at first, I was definitely not digging the experience that TRIHAYWBFRFYH was offering, but the more that I explored, the more that I honestly wanted to see it through to the end. Once those flashing lights started coming and the brilliant music got louder, it was a pretty fantastic for me. I can’t really describe it, and I think that’s part of the reason why we see so few games, movies, or literature trying to fathom what experiencing the end of the world would feel like.

You can play The Rapture Is Here And You Will Be Forcibly Removed From Your Home for free here via Game Jolt. You can also listen to the game’s brilliant soundtrack (also by Connor) here.
