Namco Bandai has revealed the next installation for the Tales series, titled Tales of Zestiria. The game is set to be the 20th anniversary title in the series, and it’s looking pretty awesome.

Series producer, Hideo Baba, has confirmed that the “Zest” in the title represents passion and enthusiasm. If you looked carefully at the logo, you’ll notice a dragon. Yep, dragons are the in-thing these days, although it wasn’t revealed if the dragon will be a harbinger of doom, or a possible ally.

Character designs are by Daigo Okumura, Kosuke Fujishima, Minoru Iwamoto, and Mutsumi Inomata. The animations featuring in the game are being done by Ufotable, the studio known for animation in games like God Eater, Black Rock Shooter, and Fate/Zero.

The story in Tales of Zestiria takes place on the continent of Glynnwood where two powerful nations, the Highland Kingdom and the Laurence Empire, are naturally embroiled in a contest for control over the lands. Both countries have different cultures and different religions, and have grown powerful through advancements in technology and civilization. A mysterious religion called the “Family of Heaven” has come out of Glynnwood, but it’s not clear where it originated from, or who exactly makes up its members. The Family of Heaven is said to be unseen and untouchable, and that they have the power to influence the world. The peoples of both countries both fear and respect them.

The battle system in Tales of Zestiria is described as an evolution of the Linear Battle system. Further details were not confirmed.

We’ll be getting some more information on the title with the next issue of Famitsu, so stay tuned! The trailer shown above will be given the direct feed treatment at Jump Festa 2014.
