Double Fine is currently in open beta with their space station management simulator, Spacebase DF-9. The game has been available to purchase and play via Steam’s early access program, but the studio has made a pretty nice chunk of change through the program combined with Indie Fund in less than two weeks.

How much did they make? How about $400,000 – and this is before the game has even officially launched. I think it’s official, Double Fine are masters are crowdfunding campaigns!

Double Fine had this to say about their achievement:

“This is an important milestone for us because the success of this experiment opens the door for us to support more projects of this magnitude in the future. To be clear, this won’t affect the number of smaller projects we fund. Our bottleneck has always been finding promising projects to invest in, not lack of funds.”

To recap, Spacebase DF-9 has gotten about 15 percent of its funding through Indie Fund, while roughly 85 percent was through Steam Early access. Quite impressive!
