Switch RPG Octopath Traveler Won’t Have DLC Because the Game “is a Finished Product”

While a good portion of our audience remember the days when a game was a complete, bug-free product – many have grown up with day-one patches, season passes, and post-launch downloadable content out the wazoo. Octopath Traveler, a throwback JRPG after our own hearts, is going that extra mile to further secure its place as a “golden era JRPG.”

We’ve learned the game will have no post-launch downloadable content, via an interview with producer Masashi Takahashi and Dengeki Online.

“The release version is the finished product,” Takahashi said when asked if post-launch DLC is planned.

In related news, Square Enix and Octopath Traveler producer Tomoya Asano teased that the publisher has ‘several other titles’ for the Nintendo Switch.

Octopath Traveler is launching for Switch on July 13th, worldwide.
