New Final Fantasy VII Remake Job Listing Hopes to “Surpass the Original Work” as a “New Creation”

Following the news that Square Enix finally got Cloud’s design in the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake closer to that of Tetsuya Nomura’s original vision, the company has put up a new job listing where they’re seeking new planners for the game in what could be a newly confirmed vision for the project.

The company is seeking battle planners and level planners with some other tidbits regarding the title. Square noted that because the game is widely considered a masterpiece in the series, due to the huge reaction of the remake they’ve made it their goal to make a “new creation” and not just remake the game.

Square is now producing the game internally, following their brief stint co-developing the game with CyberConnect2. Now, most of the original staff have returned and are now in full production with the project, with the goal being to “surpass the original work.”

It’s worth pointing out that due to the scale and development costs of the project, Square previously decided to break the remake up into a three-part series, with each title within the series having the amount of content seen in a standalone game.

However, there have been concerns from returning fans after hearing things like the Honey Bee Inn having to be carefully implemented – due to shifts in the social and cultural climate seen in today’s gaming landscape.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4.
