Legend of Kay Anniversary Heads to Switch in 2018

THQ Nordic has announced a Nintendo Switch port for Legend of Kay Anniversary.

The Switch port for the game will mark the tenth platform the game has released on – following its PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS versions released years ago. Featured above, you can view a new trailer for the game’s Switch port.

Here is an overview of the game, via THQ Nordic:

Legend of Kay Anniversary is a thoroughly remastered version of the original game including high-resolution textures, new, more detailed character models, modern rendering techniques and crystal-clear surround sound, giving this great classic a new shine

Full of fond allusions to old martial arts films and pop culture quotes, Legend of Kay Anniversary is both an incredibly funny game and a challenging action-adventure for young and old alike.

Key Features:

  • 25 different levels with over 15 enemy types and epic boss battles.
  • 3 different primary weapons (sword/hammer/claws) with distinct combat styles.
  • Various mini-games such as wild boar racing, dragon flying and wolf riding.
  • Online rankings: compare your score with your friends’ and compete against the best in the world.

Still have an unopened copy for PS2. Got it for dirt cheap at a local going out of business sale back in the day. Never felt compelled to play it then. Have I missed out on anything special after all these years?

I like playing where’s waldo? with this game every generation, it probably has more re-releases than OoT at this point

Not really. It’s a decent fighter with some platform elements but it had some questionable controls (Like the riding an animal).

And it still sucks ass with each new release.

I bought the original and couldn’t be assed to complete it due to a really shitty camera that made a game out of hiding enemies just out of focus.

  • So they haven’t done any quality of life improvement like for the questionable controls?

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger has remakes on Steam which are fixing things and making jumping from one game to another a smoother ride.

One of those games each gen that keeps getting ported that nobody asks for.
