We’ve learned that Nintendo is finishing up the pre-production details for their long-rumored Super Mario Bros. movie.

The news comes via an interview with Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima and Kyoto Shimbun, where he confirmed the company is getting quite close to officially announcing the movie, provided they reach a deal with a partner.

Kimishima noted the plan is to have the movie out in theaters before the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, which is also the year that Nintendo hopes to open the Super Nintendo Land theme park in Universal Studios Japan.

The latest game in the series, Super Mario Odyssey, is now available for the Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our review for the game here (we highly recommend it!).
