Level-5 has announced a new TV anime based on the Layton’s Mystery Journey spinoff series.

The new anime is titled Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File (subtitle roughly translates to Kat’s Mystery-Solving Files). A premiere is set for sometime next spring, in Japan.

Fans can expect the story to follow Professor Layton’s daughter, Katrielle Layton, who is now running the Layton Detective Agency with the talking dog Sherl and her assistant Ernest Greeves. She originally started her detective work in the hopes of finding her missing father.

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy has been available for the Nintendo 3DS and for Android and iOS devices.

Of all the things they could have adapted, they adapted the Layton with the worst story.
