Sega Announces Partnership to Reproduce Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast Accessories for PC and Bluetooth Compatibility

Sega and Retro-bit has announced a new partnership to reproduce various classic hardware accessories to function with modern platforms.

So far the first confirmed platforms confirmed to get modern accessories include the Sega Genesis, the Sega Saturn, and the Sega Dreamcast. All accessories will have “the same great quality as their original Sega counterparts like the original console port, but also with modern upgrades,” like USB and Bluetooth support.

It’s worth mentioning the deal is not limited to the aforementioned platforms – they could expand to include other Sega hardware. Their original line of classic Sega reproductions will debut at the Innex booth (#21023) at next year’s CES, in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Could this open the door to Sega giving the OK to reproduce entire versions of their classic console hardware? One can only hope. Would you like modern reproductions of Sega accessories? Hardware? Sound off in the comments below!

I have a clone Saturn USB controller. It’s one of the best controllers I’ve ever touched and played with. I’d buy again if Sega and Retrobit releases officialy and with that said “same great quality as the original ones” .

  • Audie Bakerson

Hopefully these are good and not stupidly expensive. There isn’t really anything that does the 6 button genesis/saturn controller right.

Add shoulder buttons to the Saturn 3D Pad and you’ll have something that can be used for Genesis, Saturn and N64.

What about the Sega Master System? Need them 3D shutter glasses on PC. Lol.

  • Dewey Defeats Truman

Having an affordable USB Saturn pad that isn’t shit would be a godsend.

  • Mr_SP

    USB VMU? Yes?

  • Person Man

I kinda hope they would announce this with official saturn ports, but this is nice alone.

  • I rather get your games on PC not your shitty hardware Sega.

  • sAy_YaS

More genesis, DC and Saturn games would be cool too!

  • Some furf

Just what I would have wanted for Sonic Mania, if I hadn’t got a refund due to it being infected with Denuvo.

  • DizzyGear

    Amen. Especially the D-Pad.

  • DizzyGear

Those fighting pads from madcatz came close. Minus the spongy d-pads and cheap build quality.

I also had one of those USB Neo-Geo pads. The clicky nub thing sounds like it would be awesome but it has WAY too much travel to be comfortable to use for …anything? Shame though, the rest of the pad was a solid 6 button controller.

  • OGRE

Yo, remember the darkstalkers saturn controllers from lik-sang?? ☺️ rip lik-sang😔

  • David Curry

My gamepad of choice for emulators and wannabe-retro indies.

  • David Curry

That controller was incredible for 2D gaming, comfortable beond words. The analog pad wasn’t very good, but there were barely any Saturn titles that needed it.

  • DizzyGear

The only game i remember the analogue nub was good with was NiGHTS. Most games flat out did not even work with it.

  • DrearierSpider

I’m all for old ass accessories to come to PC, but how about some of those new games like P5 & VC4, SEGA?

  • David Curry

I think I used the analog for Panzer Dragoon 2 (long time ago in 2000) but it was only digital control.

  • Lodmot

You can still rebuy it, hope is not lost! o u o

  • Lodmot

Technically it’s Retro Bit making the hardware. ;D

  • SinkingSage

    Sega Rally Championship Plus.

  • MasonF2

    Does this mean USB Twin-Sticks?

  • Some furf

Only if Denuvo gets removed and Sega makes a sincere apology.

    Probably never.

  • Dewey Defeats Truman

    God I fucking hope so.

  • Z3DH

If they do it better have that MP3 functionality they were promising us eventually before they shitcanned the DC.

  • SuperiorBeing

i dont care about anything sega says untill they give us phantasy star.

  • porkbun

Why not reproduce those consoles as well to go along with the new accessories?

  • VanFinale

If I get a bluetooth/usb saturn pad 2 out of this I will be one happy camper.

  • Shadowed Heart

Just pirate it then, there’s a crack available already.

  • True Goddess Reincarnation

Holy fuck I want some saturn gear.

  • Llama Adventure

Never have I deflated in disappointment halfway through a headline more.

I mean I guess old Sega peripherals are okay.

  • Lodmot

Actually I was looking at the bottom of my VMU and it looks like there’s USB style connectors in it. owo very interesting

  • InfectedAI

So I looked them up and at a quick glance I’m not sure they’re the most reputable company. When it comes to quality at least. Also they already made a Genesis controller some years back and apparently it wasn’t every good. Same comments about the Saturn one they made a few years before that one.

  • Shoahvanist

I’m very excited about the prospect of a wireless Saturn pad, especially if it can be made to work with other Sega platforms (like 8bitdo does).
