Yoshinori Ono Apologizes for Street Fighter V Launch Woes, Promises to Continue Working Hard on the Game

A new interview with Street Fighter V producer Yoshinori Ono and 4gamer has some interesting tidbits regarding the game’s shaky launch.

In the interview, Ono said that Capcom and his team are “very sorry for the various inconveniences experienced by everyone around the time of the game’s launch.” He went on to thank the fans that stuck by the game:

“Thanks to everyone who stayed with us and never gave up,” Ono said. “I believe we have sold over 2 million copies, making 2.5 million copies sold seemingly possible.”

Ono also joked a bit, saying “I was able to make a good comeback at the company without getting chased out. I’m really happy for that (laughs).” The producer also teased up how long the game will officially be supported at Capcom.

“It’s only been two years since release,” Ono said. “Street Fighter IV operated for 8 years, so considering that, I have to keep working hard for another six years (laughs).”

Street Fighter V is now available for PC and PlayStation 4.
