Pokemon Crystal Heads to 3DS on January 26, 2018

Nintendo has announced Pokemon Crystal is coming to the Nintendo 3DS.

The Johto-set Pokemon game will launch for the Nintendo 3DS on January 26th, via the eShop. The game will cost $9.99. Featured above, you can view a new trailer showcasing the re-release of the 2001-launched game.

It’s worth mentioning the game is getting a boxed version in Europe and Japan that simply contains a download code. The 3DS version of Pokemon Crystal will be compatible with Pokemon Bank on day one, allowing players to bring select Pokemon from the classic games to the newest games in the series.

The 3DS version of the game will let players use wireless communications to perform Link Trades and Link Battles with your friends. There’s also the Time Capsule feature that lets you trade and battle with the original Red, Blue, and Yellow games. After completing the game, you can even encounter the mythical Pokemon Celebi in an event.

Good thing I waited to for this. Not buying the two inferior versions

Might be nice to have ready to fire up at any time. Though I think I’d probably prefer the DS versions of HG and SS.

Never had the pleasure of playing them. It would be great to eventually see them released on virtual console.
