Worldwide PS4 Sales Top 70.6 Million, PlayStation VR Tops 2 Million

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that worldwide PlayStation 4 hardware sales have topped 70.6 million units.

The new milestone was reached as December 3rd. The platform also sold over 617.8 million copies of PlayStation 4 games via both retailers and through digital purchases as of the same time.

“We are delighted that so many people are enjoying the unique entertainment proposition of PlayStation 4 and that an emerging technology like PlayStation VR continues to gain traction,” Andrew House, Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment said. “I cannot thank our fans and partners enough. Their support, since the launch of very first PlayStation in 1994, has helped to make PlayStation one of the biggest console gaming network in the world. We will continue to work closely with partners to maintain this momentum and remain steadfast in making PS4 the best place to play.”

PlayStation VR sold over two million units, with over 12.2 million copies of the 150 games released with PlayStation VR functionality sold via retailers and digital stores.

Hmm, seems to me like sales have started to slow down. I’d be interested to know how many of those are regular vs Pro units though.

We did it bros. Next up 100 million. I’ve really enjoyed my PS4 and I’d had it for only about 2 years

What still pisses me off is the paid online. It’s the sole thing that hesitate me in getting EDF 5 right now (and which seems to be a massive improvement in every way from the japanese streams I’ve seen)

Otherwise it’s a good home console for jap stuff

Good to see that there are 2 million idiots that fell for the VR Meme

Sony’s Playstation 4 platform just cannot be stopped. These sales figures are only natural.

70.6 million people don’t know how to build a PC.

What’s wrong? Didn’t get your allowance from mommy yet faggot?

  • Kessek

Nah, just busy plowing yours while you have headset strapped to your face.

It’s very hard to properly choose computer parts, considering the very large choice available, and it’s easy to get frightened in building your stuff for the first time (so you end up either having a friend doing this stuff or paying an extra to a pawn shop proposing its PC building services)

While I own a PC, I largely prefer consoles due of being able to have the original versions of japanese console games (while the PC ports rarely support jap) and because I dont feel having the patience these days to constantly find the method to solve issues in PC ports.
