NieR Producer Confirms They’re Making New Preparations for the Series

The latest Dengeki PlayStation (via Ryokutya2089) has NieR series producer Yosuke Saito teasing new developments for the series.

The interview had Saito noting they’re making preparations for the setting of something new, pointing to the fact that they’re hiring a new scenario planner. He said that he hopes fans will look forward to it.

Saito was naturally asked if series creator Taro Yoko would be on board, to which he joked saying he believes that Yoko is up for it. He also pointed to the fact that Yoko has said numerous times that he’ll do anything for money, so it makes sense that he’ll work on a new game.

The latest game in the series, NieR: Automata is now available for PC and PlayStation 4. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough written and video review for NieR: Automata here (we highly recommend it!).

I wonder if it’ll possible be a prequel to the first Nier, during the Red Eye incidents.

  • Mr0303

Hold on to your nicely shaped butts.

  • Uncle Ocelot

Hopefully it’s even better than the first two. And more thicc grills please.

  • I do look forward to this. Of course there’s always the risk of the franchise getting milked, but it’s not FF so I guess it will be okay.

  • totenglocke

How about working on fixing the PC version first?

  • Izzy Lichi

it would be cool if they made a turnbased game in the series

  • DrearierSpider

How about fixing your current game on PC before moving on to another one fuck face?

  • Uncle Ocelot

    That’s still fucked?

  • lucben999

It was never patched, but hey, SE gave Kaldaien a gold star and named him “officer”. That’s the guy who put DRM in his mod to fix the resolution BTW.

  • Exien

yeah it is, I am happy that AMD decided to fix this white screen problem for their users. I just needed to WAIT 3 MONTHS to be able to play it and the fucking mod. Never again Square Enix on PC was my first and last buy from me.

  • BFG

SE gave Kaldaien a gold star and named him “officer”

He deserved a medal for being such a good goy

  • reblinds

    how about crying some more

  • reblinds

lol pc gamers thinking they matter

  • BFG

how about not being a cunt

that goes as well for the console kids that swear their allegiance in a corporation and the steam fanboy retard that exactly does the same

  • Syndromic

I hope story’s bit more like the first Nier. I guess I liked the main characters from the first game better than Automata.

  • catazxy

600.000+ sales on pc makes it a pretty valuable market

  • catazxy

As long as Yoko is at the helm, I have no worries

  • catazxy

I used FAR mod for it, it fixes all the bugs and it stays at 60fps most of the times.

  • Uncle Ocelot

    Oh, Kaldaien… wonderful…

  • Vita is dead.

  • Matter more than the Vitafags.

  • LOLIC FORCES

how about you buy a real console?

  • LOLIC FORCES

or even a prequel to Automata, during the time A2 was part of Yorha

  • Kitsune

    It works on my machine.™

  • totenglocke

I don’t have it on PC, dumbass. That still doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t fix their existing game before making new ones.

  • sanic

Yoko won’t be in on it and it’ll be like drakengard 2 all over again.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

    Get fucked PCUCK AHAHAHA.

  • RichardGristle

Like SNES? Consoles are just shitty PCs as of years ago.

  • RichardGristle

To be fair, it was hardly ever alive. Cucked by Nintendo handhelds from birth.

  • RichardGristle

Yep! 2 seconds to download FAR and it ran a buttery 1080p/60fps.

  • iswear12

    Sonygger confirmed

  • BFG

Do people actually remember when it was “alive” ? Sony tried to shove Online pass on (first-party) games, and that one katamari games tried to introduce microtransactions.
And I do recall keeping the “vita is dead” within those last 3 years despite the number of releases that made it more interesting than any other current console if you were into niche weeb games.

  • BFG

What about handhelds? 6th gen consoles?

  • reblinds

You would have to be a retard to buy and play pretty much any game on pc in this age of denuvo, god awful ports and no support. It’s just being a stupid consumer if you cling so desperately to your shit steam box despite years of patterns to refer on that your product in all likelihood will not work.

  • reblinds

Its 20% of all sales, even psn outperformed steam. Pc gaming is pretty much a tip jar. I’m just advocating for consumers, and that’s impossible to do on pc where you will get fucked any way you turn.

  • RichardGristle

Oh shit you’re right, #ImWithHerNow. First thing tomorrow I’m running out to buy a mini-PC Netflix box with proprietary hardware, locked OS, and limited discounts that hopefully Lord Sony/MS/Nintendo doesn’t brick with their next update. Because *I’m* a smart consumer.

Also you’re going to have to explain what “despite years of patterns to refer on that your product in all likelihood will not work.” means, because if you’re implying that the next PC game I buy most likely won’t work, then you need to pull back. Bring it back because you’ve crossed one foot over from Troll Land into Tard Territory and it’s exposing you.

  • catazxy

Its 30% man, and advocating for consumers while bashing pc and sucking sony’s dick, you have problems, I have noting else to tell you….

  • BFG

Im an idort, so I get to play on different systems (with a preference for the DS and Vita due of them being handhelds and practical to my situation).

What I said earlier is that nobody like folks just like to stir shit up by baiting/trolling and cant contribute to any discussion, which include you and especially Gamezard.

  • reblinds

Unlike whoever that other guy is, I’m arguing in good faith. Not all platforms are equally viable and its stupid to consider them that way. Pc has a lot of problems and I can’t in good faith suggest anyone invest in it.

I mean for fucks sake, devs are banning you for running parts of your drivers. I’m not gonna tell anyone to buy into that shit. You shouldn’t either.

  • Nice to know that I made such an impact on you. :)

  • braneman

The cutscenes are still 40 megabit MPEG1s a standard from 1993 designed to encode VHS tapes. It won’t get fixed, they never knew how to make it work in the first place.

  • DrearierSpider

Considering it’s the most developed for platform and out performs all consoles combined in revenue, developers think we matter too.

  • DrearierSpider

Because even a garbage port like this one looks and runs much better on my rig than the potato that is PS4 .

  • DrearierSpider

It’s still far and away superior to the awful console version you dumb cunt.

  • reblinds

considering I can look up ownership info for pretty much every steam game and get fairly reliable numbers or perfectly reliable numbers and they all show rare over-performers compared to consoles, genre-exclusive games performing highly, or multiplatform games drastically underperforming (like nier automata) in sales, yeah nah stop sharing that propaganda. It’s not true and it’s so easily proven wrong it’s retarded to even mention it. Those numbers come from facebook, league of legends, dota 2, CSGO, WoW, etc. Games whose audience typically only play that one game. Combined revenue is 100% to market decisions.

  • Jack Thompson

From what I heard, P* handled the PC port for Bayonetta and it was great (My laptop can run most of the game and it’s below min specs). Sony handled the PC port for Automata. The fuck up is on Sony.

  • Jack Thompson

Would work much better since Taro is obsessed with janky combat. Automata is the most polished game, mechanically speaking, that Taro has ever worked on thanks to P*. It still has major problems with non-threatening enemies and the fact that it shouldn’t have had character and enemy levels. Part of that has to do with the story, which is on Taro, and the other part has to do with wanting the game to still “technically” be an “RPG”, which is also on Taro as far as I’ve heard.

  • Izzy Lichi

yeah pretty much everything you said. im not really into over the top action games like nier or bayonetta or GoW, im an rpg guy that likes it nice and slow, so its really just a personal bias im asking for lol

  • Jack Thompson

    >See a bunch of comments on a Taro article
    >OwO what’s this?
    >It’s just mostly low-energy console war shitflinging
    I am disappointed.

  • Jack Thompson

I’m not saying it can’t be over the top action/3D bullet hell and that it has to be JRPG, but that Taro should pick one or the other to improve the game mechanically.

  • porkbun

also he checks your steam id and stops you from running his mod if you are on his naughty list. borderline malware if you ask me.

  • DrearierSpider

Lol, 600,000 is drastically underperforming? Keep in mind it came out later than PS4 (and it’s a niche game with a dedicated audience, meaning most sales are likely day 1 or week 1), was a bad port, has never been patched or on sale beyond ~$40. If PC were as worthless as you seem to think, we wouldn’t see a gigantic increase in support from Japanese devs like we have.

  • reblinds

Yes, its underperforming. Dark souls had a worse port and was far more successful. Pc gamers often brag about how open they are to niche or independent titles. Pc gamers also say theres hundreds of millions of them oit there. Put up or shut up.
