Worldwide Shipments and Digital Sales for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Top 1 Million Units

Square Enix has announced total worldwide shipments and digital sales for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age have topped one million units.

The new milestone was reached after the newly remastered version of the classic RPG was launched in July of this year, for PlayStation 4. Featured above, a new remastered version of the game’s title cinematic was shared to celebrate the new milestone.

“Thank you to all the fans for helping us reach this milestone,” said Producer Hiroaki Kato. “We are overwhelmed with the response from both new players and fans of the original.”

Alongside the title cinematic is a new illustration by environmental artist Isamu Kamikokuryo, which you can view above.

The game’s remastered port includes a multitude of modern advancements including remastered HD graphics, Trophies, a remastered soundtrack, a revamped battle system, and more.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is now available worldwide for PlayStation 4.

Great to see it did well. The team talked about revisiting Ivalice in the future if the remake sold well. I hope it means we can see more Ivalice in the future

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

With so many people kissing its ass; I figured it’d do a lot better than this even if a lot of people already played it.

  • Yoral

Never finished 12 even after trying 3 times on different occasions. Maybe this time with Zodiac age changes the game will be more fun.
Remember lads, do your “before you buy” contemplation.

Square, honestly, the way your last three FF games have been– I would be perfectly okay if you spent the rest of your career just remaking the old games in HD. Your newer stuff is, ah… not so good. On the writing, or design, or charm.

  • Kitsune

I played Zodiac on PS2, it really does make the game more playable… mostly due to the turbo button that lets you get through the game a LOT faster.

  • bdp

Still waiting for a pc version

  • Matz

I wouldn’t ask for more remakes, they’re remaking FF7 and it seems that it will be a big disaster like FF15

  • Person

Let’s not forget how they remade 5 and 6 either shall we? Let’s face it, their newer stuff is not that good.

  • Feniks

Finished it last week. What helped was the double speed. Decent game but lots of grinding and filler.

  • Feniks

Reality is that most people aren’t interested in old JRPGs.

  • ProxyDoug

Interesting. I’d sure love to see another Vagrant Story.

wondering if I should wait for the inevitable pc release, or go with the ps2 version on emulator

  • Eli Wintercross

Yeah, those slogs through the sand sea and so on are tough, the turbo mode helps ease that somewhat

  • 2501

    Pretty impressive for a remaster.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

It’s just Ito left isn’t it? Do you really think you’d be all that happy with Matsuno gone and how current Square is?

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Yeah but people tend to buy shit just because everyone talks about it but I guess most everyone like that would be into lets plays of it.

  • Mechonis

I believe Matsuno was back for the remake. The entire original team was iirc

  • machariel00

That’s what I’m doing (waiting for the PC port). But you can’t go wrong with PS2 emulator either.

  • MoeIsLife

Albeit I enjoyed every FF Title (Got over 26 FF Games for various Consoles – not the MMO though), I would welcome a complete remade FF V III in HD/4k. And maybe FF Tactics, that would be glorious.

The latest FF’s weren’t bad games in my eyes, just different. Don’t get the hate they all have gotten.

We can’t be sure yet, but breaking it up into three releases doesn’t give it much hope.

  • Jack Thompson

Turbo is double speed, right? Why not emulate for more speed?

  • SiliconNooB

    Great port!

  • SiliconNooB

It has done about as well as FFX.
