Mystik Belle Heads to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

WayForward has announced a console port for the classic adventure / metroidvania game Mystik Belle.

The game will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on sometime this October in North America and Europe, for $14.99. Featured above, you can view the announcement trailer for the new release.

WayForward is promising the game will have “silky smooth frame rates” and a revised storyline.

Here’s a rundown on the game, via WayForward:

Trouble is brewing at the Hagmore School of Witchcraft, and only freshman witch-in-training Belle MacFae can put things right.

As Belle, you must seek out the three crucial ingredients of the Walpurgisnacht Brew, which means investigating the school’s colorful 2D landscapes in a quest that combines elements of nonlinear, exploration-based action-platformers and classic object-oriented adventures.

As you traverse the labyrinthine school’s catacombs, laboratories, dungeons, and forests, you’ll use everything from a sledgehammer to a fish head to solve numerous puzzles.

And when you aren’t testing your grey matter, you’ll put your wand to use against a variety of impressively animated enemies, including spooky spiders, pesky plants, and rambunctious rodents.

Can your mind and magic overcome the myriad mysteries, or will this quest spell defeat for the unfortunate Belle?

  • Mr0303

This looks adorable and WayForward make quality games, so I may go for it. I just hope that the point and click puzzles aren’t too out there.

  • Shattno

This looks fresh, I’m definitely interested

  • Wayforward did not make it. All they are doing is publishing the console ports which are exactly the same as the PC version.

Yes a not mentioned Pc Steam version!!!

  • orbo

Bought and played it when it came out on pc. Thought it was pretty good.
It’s a shame it didn’t get more attention cause IMO it deserved more.

BTW the game wasn’t made by wayforward, it’s just being ported by them for the ps4 and xbone, but maybe that will give it enough of a spotlight.

A bit surprised they aren’t making a switch version though, it’d be right at home on it.

  • InfectedAI

That’s because it released on PC a long time ago. NG didn’t make that very clear.

  • Rumble Red

I’d never heard of this before, so I guess I’m glad these ports were announced, even if I’ll probably just buy the PC version.

  • Funtime Happysnacks

This game looks really cute but the main character’s sprite is far too big, and not very aesthetic imo. Her eyes are barely defined on her sprite and she looks hunched.
