Splatoon’s SplatNet Service Closing for Wii U

With Splatoon 2 now available for the Nintendo Switch and being aggressively supported by Nintendo, it makes sense the company has announced the original game’s SplatNet service is shutting down before the end of this month.

The service mirrors the Nintendo Switch’s new mobile companion app, which various games can utilize for online multiplayer features like player statistics, online status, and more.

Despite the extra functionality via SplatNet will be shut down this month, the original game’s matchmaking servers will still remain up and running.

Splatoon 2 is now available for the Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough written and video review for the game here (we highly recommend it!).
