Sega Survey for Western Releases of Yakuza: Kiwami 2, Yakuza Online, and Fist of the North Star

We’ve learned that Sega isn’t wasting any time – they’re running a survey polling their fans over whether or not they want a western release for a bunch of newly announced titles from their Yakuza Studio.

The new survey ponders a western release for the following newly announced games:

Make sure to take the survey, it’s ridiculously short and Sega is definitely taking the number of responses into consideration with localizing these games.

  • NukeA6

We’re a vote closer to PS4 Hokuto no Ken getting a western release.

  • Ckarasu

Yakuza online doesn’t sound interesting, but I am definitely hoping the Hokuto ga Gotoku game gets released here. It looks like it’s just the right kind of wacky for a Hokuto game.

  • Mr0303

Give me Kenshiro, let Yakuza fans have Kiwami 2 and you can keep the F2P stuff.

  • BioDevil_Dom

I want them all especially the remake for 2.

  • frauleineule031

Do they really need to ask this? Of course people want it… Except for the online one, maybe.

  • Uncle Ocelot

I can do without Online but those other two? YEEEEESSSS

  • MISTER6AME

We need to support this if we want yakuza games on PC.

  • Arenegeth

I took the survey and I was honest.

I picked 4 for Yakuza 2, because I want it to get localized so I can play it, but I’m not ‘hyped’ up about anything, ever.

I picked 3 about Fist of the North Star, because I’m not a fan of the series (my friends used to give me shit about not having watched that old Anime yet) but I am mildly interested in it, especially if it resembles the Yakuza series in structure.

I picked 1 for the online crap, because I don’t even think games like that should exist, I mean they have every right to exist as long as the are people stupid enough to pay for them, but I’m not about to support an anti-consumer model like that for any series.

  • Terra

Chose Hype, semi-hype, and lastly: Fuck off.

I’d love for Kiwami 2 to be localized. I’ve only played Yakuza 1 on the PS2, so I might continue through Kiwami 2. No matter what HyperBit says.

The F2P micro transaction crap can they shove up their ass. Those interested in Yakuza in the west are not mobile gamers. It might work for Sonic and other Sega franchises that are more mainstream, but not this.

  • Tubsiwub

The survey is a waste of time…

  • InfectedAI

How so? They’re trying to get some numbers on how many people are interested to help thir localization decisions.

  • InfectedAI

I wish they had asked about PC ports.

  • reblinds

thank goodness they didn’t. PC gamers don’t deserve yakuza.

  • Fenrir007

Voting a “1” for freemium mobile garbage.

  • Travis Touchdown

Filled out the survey hoping I would be able to bitch about the lack of Nintendo Switch support.

Damn it, Sega. You can’t even do that right.

  • I for one deeply appreciate this new Sega, where they actually want input from fans. Keep it up!

  • RetroGamer

    1. Yes
    2. Couldn’t care less.
    3. Yes

  • But none of these are ports of last-gen games, why would they come to Switch?

  • If Fist of the North Star doesn’t get a western release I will make Charlottesville look like child’s play.

How much of a cuck is Travis Touchdown?
Mark a “1” if you think he’s just a little bit cucky, mark a “5” if you think he’s at maximum cuck.
⃝1: Little Cucky. More into bitching about games not being ported that he’ll never play anyway.
⃝2: Lukewarm Cuck. Is starting to associate exclusive Switch games he’ll never play regardless with his wife’s open relationship.
⃝3: Cuck. Get’s rock hard thinking about PS4/Xbone/Steam games that will never come to the Switch while watching his wife and her latest hung BF.
⃝4: The Dark Souls of Cucks. After his wife throws out all his Nintendo vidja calling it childish nonsense that distracts from her all he has is being cucked and commenting on Nichegamer.
⃝5: Top Cuck. Give him a call that it’s time to prep the bull.

Had you heard about this cuck’s vapid single-minded borderline gimmick posting prior to this survey?
    ⃝Yes
    ⃝ No

  • MISTER6AME

    Me too.

  • MISTER6AME

    Why?

  • s_fnx

Hmm, you seem to be pretty mad about PC getting ports of japanese games.

Well, you do have to pay more for games, pay for online and still have a worse experience than those playing on PC players so I guess your anger is justified.

  • mega jew

They’re just stroking their own dicks, they know people want them. Downvoting the F2P game to oblivion should help though.

  • James Hewitson

Because Buying O and Kiwami is not intent enough that I want Kiwami 2 right Sega? sigh.
The Mobile trash they can keep though.

  • reblinds

    >playing online
good job outing yourself as an idiot

  • reblinds

why not? exclusive are good for the industry.

  • TheOnceAndFutureKing

a Sega game on a Nintendo console?

Cats and dogs living together! Mass hysteria!

  • Feniks

Paying more for games: well yes actually that’s why Japan doesn’t like PC.

Every time I see people on Steam bitch that they have to pay for stuff. It is embarrassing.

  • MISTER6AME

First-party exclusives yes not third-party exclusives.

  • MusouTensei

Kiwami 2 is a given, it would eb very weird for them to not localize it, but I swear if they don’t give me the HnK one…

  • reblinds

those are even better too, especially for the developers.

  • MISTER6AME

Why?they don’t receive money for let the game exclusive.

  • reblinds

they sell a comfortable amount of copies in return for the excellent exclusivity package these companies offer. Developers get to make the best game they can.

  • Miguel Angel Opazo Arancibia

    Brings them to PC.

  • MISTER6AME

So why Sega put yakusa on wii u and said they want to made more multiplataforns games, bring more games to PC in West.

  • FrankieL

And the survey is closed as of this post.

  • InfectedAI

Try a little harder. Your troll isn’t believable at all. Maybe throw in some numbers regarding sales.

  • I think you put more effort into this comment than Nintendo did with their last four consoles.

  • >the best game they can

Have you seen the load times on something as basic as the Crash Bandicoot trilogy? Remember when they had to patch Bloodborne because the load times were so ridiculously long?

Console exclusives are artificially restrictive garbage that prevent devs making the best game they possibly can, stop deluding yourself.

  • reblinds

the crash trilogy wouldn’t even exist without sony, neither would bloodborne. I’m confident you have no idea what you’re talking about since you can’t even recognize this basic fact.

Crash Trilogy’s issues are solely to do with the incompetence of western devs, but they did a decent job. Can’t say it’s more than a 7/10 though. Either way, it’s clear you have no idea how the industry works and the claim that I’m delusional is hilarious projection on your behalf.

  • reblinds

Yakuza on the Wii U was their attempt at testing the platforms validity and it didn’t pan out too well considering how the Wii U was an undeniable failure. Investing more in PC games with decade old ports seems to be what they’re interested in, and frankly I don’t want PC fags poisoning the community with their presence. Sort of like how I don’t want migrants invading Europe, to give you a comparison.

  • Ace

Wow, this survey was posted 2 days ago and now it’s offline.

  • How does pointing out they wouldn’t exist without Sony excuse the fact that both Crash and Bloodborne have hilariously long load times, like most games this generation? That’s not even a goalpost shift, you’re in a different stadium playing an entirely different sport.

Let’s just also ignore the fact that almost every game this generation has required massive day-one patches just to function properly (all downloaded through PSN’s excruciatingly slow network) and even then a lot of them are still completely unstable. Let’s ignore charging for online services, price-gouging for ports of old games, laughably small HDDs, and the need to constantly update the system because every new patch breaks something else.

Aside from all that, you’re totally right: consoles are such a boon to the industry, they’re totally not a relic of a bygone age, holding devs back by forcing them to work within the confines of artificially restrictive, obsolete hardware.

  • reblinds

    >That’s not even a goalpost shift, you’re in a different stadium playing an entirely different sport.
    wrong.

    >Let’s just also ignore the fact that almost every game this generation has required massive day-one patches
    wrong.

    >holding devs back by forcing them to work within the confines of artificially restrictive, obsolete hardware.
    wrong.

total biscuit tier argumentation, git gud scrub. make a real argument.

  • The irony of asking me to make real arguments when you attempt to refute all my points by just saying ‘wrong’ is precious.

    You’re a fascinating creature.
