Sega has announced Yakuza Online.

The game is the first title in their “New Yakuza Series” project, and its coming to smartphones and PC sometime next year in Japan. The game will be free-to-play, and it will naturally have item-based micro-transactions. Featured above, you can view the game’s announcement trailer.

This “New Yakuza Series” is planned as a new set of games that tell separate stories within Kamurocho, Tokyo after the happenings of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. The protagonist of this first game is an entirely new character, Ichiban Kasuga, who is voiced by Kazuhiro Nakaya.
