Anno 1800 Officially Announced

Ubisoft has announced the next installment within the Anno city-builder series at this year’s Gamescom.

Titled simply Anno 1800, the new city-builder simulator is naturally set within the 19th century, and focuses on the imperialism era rife with steam-powered machinery and technology. Featured above, you can view the game’s announcement trailer.

The game comes with a teaser: “Welcome to the 19th Century, the dawn of the industrial age! Diplomacy, trade or warfare, choose your strategy for victory. Set sail, it’s time to build your empire!” The most recent game within the series is Anno 2025, which launched for Windows back in 2015.

A release window is set for sometime next winter.

    Stopped reading/watching right there.

  • Would be interested if it wasn’t Ubisoft, but I already know it’s just going to be Uplay, pre-order bonuses, microtransactions, season passes, the whole nine yards. When people won’t even watch your trailers because of how bad you are at making games, it’s probably time to find a new job.

I’d really like a new anno game which actually *ADDED* to the franchise’s mechanics and featureset instead of taking core gameplay elements away to the point where it’s not even as good as the original game of the series.
