THQ Nordic Acquires Black Forest Games

THQ Nordic has fully acquired independent German developer Black Forest Games.

The publisher has acquired 100% of the shares from the studio’s five founding members, alongside purchasing all the intellectual properties for series like Giana SistersHelldorado, and Rogue Stormers. All the aforementioned IPs will now be integrated into the THQ Nordic portfolio of games.

Despite the acquisition, the five founders of Black Forest Games will remain at the studio and continue operating as before. However, Black Forest Games is working on a new, unannounced project for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Details for their new project will be revealed soon – possibly at Gamescom this week. We’ll keep you guys posted.

What does this mean for Bubsy 5? :^)

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

I only really know of their work in gummies and chocolate cake though I have occasionally heard of Giana Sisters but have no interest in trying it.

So, uh, is the company going to be called THQ Black Nordic Forest now?

  • catazxy

I don’t get it, why would they buy them? Its not like they have some great IP or some special developers….

Probably because they were cheap and THQ Nordic need a secondary developer to develop their multitude of IPs for them or at least help with it.

Only interesting looking thing is helldorado, and they only published it.

  • I liked Giana sisters but, I can see why they got brought out.

    This really makes no sense.
