Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Story Details, New Z-Moves, More Revealed

Nintendo has shared a new trailer, details, and artwork for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon.

Featured above, the new trailer gives a quick rundown on the upcoming mid-sequel and its changes, namely Lycanrock’s new Dusk Form, the new story tidbits, and the new Z-Moves.

You can find the information below:

Pokemon

Lycanroc (Dusk Form)

  • Category: Wolf Pokemon
  • Type: Rock
  • Height: 2’07”
  • Weight: 55.1 lbs
  • Ability: Tough Claws

It’s been confirmed that a new form of Lycanroc appears in the world of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon known as Dusk Form Lycanroc. The colors of Dusk Form Lycanroc’s body and eyes differ from those of previously discovered Lycanroc, known as Midday Form and Midnight Form.

The moves that Dusk Form Lycanroc can learn also seem to reflect the characteristics of both Midday and Midnight Forms. Dusk Form Lycanroc learns both Accelerock and Counter—moves favored by Midday Form and Midnight Form Lycanroc, respectively.

Accelerock is a Rock-type physical move that always goes first. In Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, only Midday Form Lycanroc could learn this move. Midday Form could learn this move when it evolved from Rockruff. Counter is a Fighting-type move that inflicts double the damage received by an opponent’s physical attack. In Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Midnight Form Lycanroc learned this move when it evolved from Rockruff.

Dusk Form Lycanroc has the Ability Tough Claws, a different Ability than either Midday Form or Midnight Form. Tough Claws greatly increases the power of moves that make direct contact. A Dusk Form Lycanroc with this Ability would likely favor a different style of battle than Midday Form or Midnight Form.

Get Dusk Form Lycanroc!

Only special Rockruff can evolve into a Dusk Form Lycanroc, and neither this Rockruff nor Dusk Form Lycanroc can be caught in normal gameplay. But you can get a special gift of this Rockruff as an early purchase bonus with Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon. Players will be able to receive a special Rockruff that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc via Nintendo Network from Friday, November 17, 2017, until Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Evolve this special Rockruff and have an adventure in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon together with your Dusk Form Lycanroc!

Alola Region

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon have been powered up with new additions to the story and features of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon! These titles are coming to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on November 17, 2017.

Just as was true for 2016’s Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, these titles will also allow players to enjoy playing in one of nine languages: English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Ominous dark clouds are spreading in the sky above the Alola region, the setting of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon. New buildings and landscapes appear that were not previously seen in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon.

Necrozma’s New Tale

In Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon, a story unfolds on a grand scale, with the Legendary Pokemon Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma at its center. Secrets about Necrozma and the Alola region—undisclosed in the previous games—will come to light.

New Look for a New Adventure

The look of the main characters’ outfits has changed from the first trip through the Alola region—just in time for them to begin a new adventure! Choose the Pokemon that will become your partner, and set out on a journey through the world of Alola!

Cool Features

New Z-Moves!

In Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, the main character wears a Z-Ring in order to use Z-Moves. In Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon, the main character will put on a Z-Power Ring, which can use even more varieties of Z-Moves than the Z-Ring! And the games also feature new Z-Moves for certain Pokemon!

What’s a Z-Move?

Z-Moves are moves of tremendous power—so powerful that they can only be used once per battle. When a Trainer and their Pokemon combine the force of their wills, the full strength of their effort bursts forth in an epic Z-Move! All Pokemon can use Z-Moves. To use a Z-Move, you must have two key items: a Z-Power Ring and a Z-Crystal.

More Fun with the Z-Power Ring

With the launch of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon,TOMY will be releasing their Pokemon Z-Power Ring around the world. If you put on a Z-Power Ring, your battles and adventures in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon can become even more fun!

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon are launching worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS on November 17th. A completely new Pokemon game is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch – you can read more about that here.
