Niche Spotlight – Necrobarista: Persona-Lookin’ Game About a Cafe Where Life Meets Death

This is Niche Spotlight. In this column, we regularly introduce new games to our fans, so please leave feedback and let us know if there’s a game you want us to cover!

Aussie-based indie studio Route 59 are working on their first commercial title, Necrobarista, and you can somewhat get an idea of the game’s premise just from its name.

Not much is known about the game, save that it’s a visual novel focused on “a supernatural cafe where the living come to mingle with the dead.” Featured above, you can view the game’s debut trailer.

Here’s a batch of screenshots for the game to give you a more well-rounded look at its dialogue, environments, characters, and more:

Necrobarista is scheduled for a PC and Mac release sometime this October.

I see no value in this or how it looks like Purseowner.

  • Looks very unique.

  • RichardGristle

Seems kinda interesting, as long as they stay away from any preachy bullshit then I may check it out.

  • Tubsiwub

    The art style bothers me.

  • PenguinPlayer

This looks 100% like my jam. I love the art style and reading so assuming the writers don’t try to inject their personal politics in the middle of the story out of nowhere I am sure to pick it up.

  • Looks like a more fun/interactive version of Valhala, that other Visual Novel about serving a cast of interesting strangers in a downtown bar/cafe, seeing as this one has a bit more personality and walking about and interacting with the world and not just characters.

  • Personaknight

They do know Persona is an rpg right? though I forget sometimes too lately. Any way nice premise for a visual novel. I would give it a try even if characters seem a bit off-putting.

You’d have to squint pretty hard to see Persona… :/

    who cares?
