Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap Retail Version Coming to PS4

Limited Run Games and DotEmu have announced physical editions of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.

The retail version of the game will be only available for PlayStation 4, and will come in both standard and collector’s edition formats.

No details on the price, the release date, or the collector’s edition have been revealed yet. Both versions of the game will release sometime this summer via Limited Run Game’s website.

God damn I hate that fucking site.

    Well there goes my interest.

This is sort of welcome news, but I would prefer not having to participate in a feeding frenzy on LRG to get it. I will perhaps try my luck, but I won’t expect much.

The game is great and I would’ve gladly double dipped for a physical release, but the chances of getting one with LRG are miniscule. I wish another company with a different business model started making physical releases.

LRG is a scalpers wet dream.

Now this is something i would actually go to the store and pay full price for. Hell, id even preorder the damn thing if i could. Oh well.

The trap consists in trying to buy this game. Fuckings dragons, man.

Limited run? arg I always lost the preorders…

What’s the point of having a “collector’s” edition cover when the regular release will be extremely limited as well? Trying to get people to buy the same game twice for both covers is nothing but shameless milking of completionist collectors but then Limited Run has become an expert at doing that.

Not that i wanna shill them or anything but I ordered Ray Gigante from them and scored a copy without any trouble.

Granted its a pain in the ass but if you really want a copy its doable if you make an account in advance and have your payment details ready in advance so all you have to do is F5 the store page and order immediately when it goes life. Ray Gigante sold out in about 5 minutes.

I still prefer a good old pre-order system but it certainly beats paying double to a scalper.

In my view waiting at ungodly hours for my timezone and hoping to be able to purchase it depending on interest in the game is not a good business model for the regular collector, but rather for the scalpers in question.

I am surprised as much as the developers talked about there is still no news of the Nintendo Switch getting a physical release. I am glad I own both systems to cover the bases since I don’t buy downloaded games.
