Debut Trailer for Bandai Namco’s Vampiric Dark Souls Game, Code Vein

Bandai Namco has shared the debut trailer for Code Vein.

Featured above, the two-plus minute long trailer gives us a brief idea of what to expect in the upcoming action RPG, although we still don’t know what consoles/platforms the game is coming to.

Here’s a rundown on what the trailer encapsulates, via Bandai Namco:

The new trailer highlights the mysterious and captivating universe found in Code Vein along with a quick look at the game’s thrilling weapon-based combat. The trailer also teases the game’s companion gameplay mechanic. As players venture out into the world, they will be able to choose a partner companion from the various residents of Vein. Added strategy presents itself when players choose companions that complement their play style to give them a fighting chance against the vicious enemies they’ll be up against through their journey.

In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity.

  • ProxyDoug

    Looks alright.

  • Mr0303

Yep, this is Dark Souls. I was hoping for different gameplay, but I’ll have to skip this one.

  • Eldhin Hellknight

I like that big Hollow Miku enemy

  • Anime dark souls I’m buying this.

  • InkViper

Dark Souls with a God Eater aesthetic, i’m all in…

  • Madbrainbox

Looks good.I guess the clash between the character design and the environment is only noticeable in screen shots.
Some moves seem to lack impact but that may be different when playing.

  • Ace

This is the Dark Souls of journalism.

  • Migi

Looks more like a God eater game then anything remotely Dark souls. I’m not sure if i’m gonna enjoy this game, The environments look so dull and uninspiring.

  • Loli de 42 Anos

looks pretty cool! Hopefully it will have a good amont of options for customization!

  • 2501

    Looks bitching.

  • gwadahunter2222

The main character looks like Nightmare from Soul Calibur, I’m not against a Souls Gameplay they should add some NiOH part it will works wells

  • Kiryu

Dark Souls gameplay,i’ll pass.Too bad i liked the artstyle.

  • Uncle Ocelot

    Looks pretty decent.

  • Hm, Anime Darksouls then.
It looks like it has some potential, but those animations for attacking, and then the enemy taking anattack, are pretty shallow, seem to have nearly no feedback. I do hope they correct that. The special attacks look neat though, and so do some of the enemy designs. I still don’t think the characters really fit into the world well, just based on appearances. I’m glad it isn’t as brown/washed-out looking as I thought it would be, though a little more color wouldn’t hurt.

  • tccboss

I’ll give it a try if it’s from the God Eater team.

  • Frisky 🂿 Jester

It’s an army of little demented frampts and kaathes

  • sanic

How about a vampire game where you have to try to get people to invite you into their homes?

  • Etherblaze

Hoping the gameplay evolves from what seems like DS style to God Eater style.

  • Crizzyeyes

The designs look pretty damn generic, especially compared to Dark Souls. Scenery looks alright, but every single shot they’ve shown is “linear-ass path with nice scenery on the side.” If the whole game is a linear path like that, not very encouraging. Otherwise those character designs, weapon designs and animations make me yawn.

It doesnt have to be the owner, you can get an igor to do that

  • UnpluggedBeta

or, instead of the satanic demon powers, you could just invest in some firearms which, judging by the trailer, produce superior results.
