Worldwide Nintendo Switch Shipments Top 2.74 Million

Nintendo has announced they’ve shipped over 2.74 million Nintendo Switch consoles since its launch this past March.

The news comes via the company’s new financial results, where they note hardware shipments for the console have surpassed 2.74 million units.

According to the report, Nintendo is hoping to ship 10 million Switch units in the new fiscal year, which started this month and runs until March of next year.

Do you own a Nintendo Switch? If so, how is the hardware – make sure to sound off in the comments below!

Does this break the streak of every Nintendo console selling less than the previous one, aside from the Wii?

  • InkViper

There is no streak if you take the portables into account!

  • Mr0303

Not bad. Curious to see what the sales will be by the end of the first year and how the third party support will look like.

  • Uncle Ocelot

Well, it’s not hard to beat the Wii U’s paltry 13 million, I could see the Switch matching that by March 2018. Plus, it’s a portable too so as already mentioned you have to consider those sales too.

  • Uncle Ocelot

Curious to see what E3 will bring for this console. The currently announced lineup is surely only the tip of the Switch’s iceberg now that we have the combined forces of handheld and home console Nintendo.

  • Michael Richardson

Wii U also sold well in its first month. Let’s see if Nintendo can keep up the momentum over time.

I own a Switch. Awesome little machine. Just needs more games.

  • Fenrir007

DId you buy it for any specific release title?

  • Fenrir007

The Nintendo Shit is being sold for U$ 628 around here. And people are still buying it.

  • Michael Richardson

Not really, although I wouldn’t have bought it at launch if Zelda wasn’t a launch title. I love the versatility of the machine, and I’m excited for multiple 2017 releases, as well as SMT V.

  • Michael Richardson

What country do you live in? That price is nuts!

  • Fenrir007

Brazil. It was initially going for U$ 1170. Best of all? We earn less than the average american / european, so it’s even more expensive than you think.

  • sanic

    What games do owners play?

  • Shattno

Is it impossible to import it?

  • Shattno

If they release a new pokemon for the switch they’ll easily make that goal.

It is possible, but we have to pay extremely high importing fees (60% of the price of the item, including shipping) and shipping is also expensive here (from the USA, it might be something like $50). It also takes a long time to arrive and its impractical to send it back for repairs during the warranty period if you have problems.

What brazillians usually do is to buy the console from smugglers that typically bring it over from Paraguay. I think I have seen it going for $500 on smugglers for now. The price should lower as smuggling it becomes more common.

  • Shattno

Shit, it sounds horrible to have to chose between extortionist prices and black market goods, I don’t even know what I would do in a situation like that

  • Fenrir007

Many just give up console gaming and play only on the PC since digital downloads are still not affected by our loltaxes, and you need to buy a PC anyway even if you don’t plan on gaming. Oh, and that is part of the reason why Brazil was always known as a piracy haven (though, to be fair, this gen has fair prices at least on Xbox One games).
